The Interurban Railway Museum is a perfect field trip for young minds learning about local history, transportation, economics, electricity, and social issues. We have trained docents and staff to teach our museum content to TEKS standards in an interactive and fun way.
Regular School Field Trips
We book admission-free school field trips on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for a maximum of 60 kids at a time. This is typically scheduled by grade level. We're trained to teach TEKS-guided materials for grades 3, 4, and 5, but we're also able to generally teach all elementary and middle school grades.
Plano ISD Title I School Field Trip Program
Our Title I elementary school field trip program has taught over 4,000 students from Plano in the past three years. Title I designation means that 50% or more children from that specific elementary school qualify for free lunch. Read more about Title I schools and how they qualify here.
With private funding from the Plano Conservancy for Historic Preservation, we pay transportation costs through Plano ISD Transportation Depratment to bring Plano ISD Title I elementary school groups to the Interurban Railway Museum for a free field trip.
